THE CENTAUR PROJECT (TCP) is a user made campaign and modification for FreeSpace2, the space simulation and action game by Volition Inc. Authors: Grunt, stepanshuk, Laibon This release includes two chapters of the campaign: Chapter One - The Duke and the Emperor (released 2005) Chapter Two - The Zone (released 2008) Another final chapter is in the plans that would conclude the story. FEATURES - 18 missions with voices, in a branching structure (the player's actions will affect the next missions). - 1 bonus mission (not part of the story) - 8 new ships (4 capital ships, 3 fighters, 1 installation) - Several ship models of the original game, with corrected dock points and path data. - 5 new weapons (both fighter and capship weapons) - Squad Logos - Command briefing animations - Missions of Chapter One have been updated based on player feedback TCP was created for and tested with the ORIGINAL RETAIL version of Freespace2 ! All files necessary for playing in RETAIL FS are included in one VP file: ATCP.vp All the following is only relevant to the ORIGINAL RETAIL version of Freespace2 ! INSTALLATION Freespace2 should be installed with the High Resolution option (1024x768) ! This is because animations have been made for this resolution. Make sure all subfolders of your Freespace2\data folder are empty with the exceptions as follows: Do not touch the folders "freddocs", "players", "multidata", "force feedback" ! These may contain important files not related to the TCP MOD. The data\Players subfolder contains your pilots and HUD configuration files. These can stay as they are, except the Squads subfolder that should be empty, otherwise the files in there may overwrite the new Squad Logos from TCP. Make sure all vp files of other MODs are deleted from the Freespace2 main folder ! Only the original vp files of the game should be there: Root_fs2.vp smarty_fs2.vp sparky_hi_fs2.vp sparky_fs2.vp stu_fs2.vp tango1_fs2.vp tango2_fs2.vp tango3_fs2.vp warble_fs2.vp Extract the file "ATCP.vp" into the main Freespace2 folder. Do not change the file name ! PLAY Start Freespace2. It is proposed to start with a new pilot ! Set the volume of VOICES to the maximum under OPTIONS. Select the campaign "The Centaur Project" in the Campaign Room. Enjoy ! UNINSTALLATION Remove the file "ATCP.vp" from your Freespace2 main folder.
